NJ Insurance Claims Private Investigator
IME stands for Independent Medical Examination. This is a doctor’s appointment set for the claimant in an injury lawsuit case. It is performed by a third party doctor to determine the extent of their injures in a fair way for both litigants. Both counsel and legal teams should be made aware of the date, time, and location of theses appointments.
During insurance claim investigations, it may be in the best interest of the defendant involved in the allegedly fraudulent claim to use our IME private investigator. We investigate NJ insurance fraud claims and our experience has shown us this is a great opportunity to gather a lot of information. We are able to document and take video of the obvious things like exaggerated signs of injury shown only while at the doctor’s office, compare and contrast behaviors like a limp, favoring one limb, excessive use of the non-injured extremity, disorientation, using/not using a cane, walker, cast, or prosthetic etc. with their behaviors elsewhere. If there is a dramatic difference between the claimant’s behaviors at the doctors office that change when they are at home or elsewhere, this can be evidence of fraud. We are also able to obtain important things that are not initially as obvious such as clear photos of the claimant’s face for identification purposes in the future, locations such as the claimant’s address, and vehicle information. In the course of NJ insurance fraud investigations, it is not always easy for the investigator to have all of this information from the start. A surveillance investigation during an Independent Medical Evaluation could discover all of these things in one day. This makes an IME appointment an excellent time to begin a workers compensation insurance fraud investigation.
